I. Why We Train Shepherds

The Church does not thrive by:

  • programming,

  • administration,

  • branding,

  • strategy,

  • metrics,

  • marketing,

  • or technology…

…but by faithful shepherds caring for Christ’s people.

Christ builds His Church through:

pastoral presence
shepherding love
spiritual nourishment
long-suffering intercession
personal discipleship

This Cross Body Unity, Apostle TCL Shepherding Training Overview exists to equip leaders in Christ’s way.

Not merely to lead.
But to shepherd. *tend the flock”

II. The Biblical Foundation of Shepherding

Old Testament

God reveals Himself as:

  • Shepherd of Israel
    (Ps. 23, Ps. 80, Isa. 40, Ezek. 34, Jer. 23)

He condemns false shepherds for:

  • neglect

  • exploitation

  • self-focus

  • abandonment

He promises to shepherd His people personally.

New Testament

Jesus declares:

“I am the Good Shepherd.” — John 10

He:

  • feeds,

  • protects,

  • restores,

  • seeks,

  • rescues,

  • sacrifices,

  • knows each by name.

He appoints shepherds under His leadership.

III. The Pastoral Calling (Core Identity)

A biblical shepherd is defined by:

  • presence

  • compassion

  • wisdom

  • discernment

  • listening

  • restoration

  • teaching

  • holiness

  • truthfulness

  • patience

Their authority flows from:

love, character, faithfulness, presence, honesty, and integrity.

XIII. Final Charge

Shepherds are not entertainers.

Shepherds are not celebrities.

Shepherds are not administrators first.

Shepherds are not super bosses.

Shepherds are not ministry executives.

They are servants.

They are feeders.

They are restorers.

They are healers.

They are protectors.

They are intercessors.

They are guides.

They are examples.

They are broken-hearted lovers of Christ
who continually lead His people back to Him.

This is the Shepherd’s calling.

This is Christ’s way.

This is why we train.
